At the Heart of the Normandy Landings Overlooking the remains of the famous Mulberry artificial harbor, the Arromanches 360 Circular Cinema offers an unparalleled sensory and historical experience on the D-Day Landing Beaches. Nestled high on the clifftop, this modern architectural gem houses a unique auditorium where viewers are literally surrounded by nine giant screens. The film "The 100 Days of the Battle of Normandy" is projected in 360°, blending previously unseen archival footage with contemporary shots to recount the Allied offensive of summer 1944. This total immersion doesn't just show the war; it makes you feel it. Thanks to a powerful soundtrack and perfect image synchronization, you are plunged into the heart of the action, between the crashing of waves against the landing craft and the breath of the liberators. It is a poignant tribute to soldiers of all nations and to Norman civilians, making this site an essential stop for remembrance tourism in Calvados. The visit perfectly complements visits to the surrounding museums, adding an emotional and panoramic dimension to the understanding of D-Day.

Tip for an even more exceptional visit.

To fully enjoy the experience, I recommend arriving 15 minutes before the start of the screening (shows take place approximately every 30 minutes). Since there are no seats—the concept is to stand in the center to rotate and follow the action in 360°—make sure you're well positioned in the middle of the theater so you don't miss any of the choreography on the screens. If you're visiting with family, be aware that the film is very visual and accessible, but its intensity might be overwhelming for younger children. Expert tip: Don't head straight back down to the center of Arromanches after the screening. Take the time to walk along the cliff path next to the cinema. From this vantage point, you'll have the most spectacular view of the Phoenix caissons, which still emerge from the sea at low tide. For photographers, it's the perfect spot to capture the immensity of the artificial harbor. Finally, if you have a pass for several D-Day sites, check the applicable discounts at the entrance!
