About Chateau de Pierre de Bresse
Add to favoritesLocated in the heart of the Bresse region of Burgundy, the Château de Pierre-de-Bresse is an imposing 17th-century residence, formerly owned by the Thiard family. A true gem of red brick and white stone, this classical building impresses with the majesty of its courtyard and its vast outbuildings. Since the 1980s, it has housed the Écomusée de la Bresse Bourguignonne (Bresse Burgundy Ecomuseum), an institution that brings to life the history, crafts, and folk traditions of this unique region, nestled between the Saône and Jura rivers. The château's interior offers a rich experience where state rooms stand alongside modern museum spaces. Here, you will discover the evolution of the Bresse landscape, the region's typical half-timbered architecture, as well as traditional skills such as pottery and corn cultivation. The estate is surrounded by a 30-hectare park including French-style gardens, ponds and bridle paths, offering an exceptional walking setting that underlines the elegance of this cultural "capital" of Bresse.
