About Manoir de la Baronnie

Add to favorites

A 17th-Century Malouinière: The Malouinière de la Baronnie was built at the end of the 17th century by the Eon family, a powerful family of shipowners. It was later sold to Pierre-Jacques Meslé de Grandclos, one of the wealthiest merchants and shipowners of his time, who made his fortune through the triangular trade with Africa and the West Indies. The property was seized during the French Revolution of 1789 and subsequently experienced various fortunes before narrowly escaping the clutches of developers. Today, Benoît and Sophie Laude, the owners and descendants of the famous privateer Robert Surcouf, passionate about heritage, have undertaken the restoration of the Manor with taste and a commitment to authenticity.
