About Chateau Beauregard
Add to favoritesA true mirror of French and European history, Beauregard Castle stands as a refined and intimate sanctuary in the heart of the Loire Valley, offering a precious alternative to the grander, more crowded estates. This former favorite hunting lodge of King Francis I houses an unparalleled iconographic treasure: the Gallery of Illustrious Men. This 26-meter-long ceremonial hall features 327 portraits of historical figures gazing down upon visitors beneath a majestic lapis-lazuli ceiling, all set above an extraordinary floor of 5,500 Delft earthenware tiles depicting a marching army from the time of Louis XIII. Beyond this artistic masterpiece, the estate reveals interiors of rare elegance, such as the 16th-century carved oak "Studiolo" crafted by Catherine de Medici’s cabinetmaker. The castle opens onto a 40-hectare park listed as a Remarkable Garden, where landscape architect Gilles Clément’s "Portrait of Gardens" design offers a poetic stroll through century-old cedars and seasonal blooms, creating a perfect harmony between architectural heritage and natural beauty.
