About Chateau de Rambouillet
Add to favoritesThe Château de Rambouillet, a former royal, imperial, and presidential residence, is located in Rambouillet, the main town of the Yvelines district in southern France, within a 980-hectare park in the Rambouillet Forest. The Château de Rambouillet is a haven of tranquility for princes and sovereigns. Far removed from the court of the King of France (Paris or Versailles), princes and heads of state use the estate and the château as a center of diplomacy: they host their guests there for presidential hunts or for high-level international events such as the first G6 summit in 1975. Part of the estate is listed as a historical monument.
Tip for an even more exceptional visit.
The Rambouillet estate also offers two exceptional monuments to visitors; take a stroll through the gardens to see them: Queen Marie Antoinette's Dairy and the Shell Cottage. These two buildings were created in the 18th century in the heart of 150 hectares of historic gardens, classified as Remarkable Gardens.
