About Chateau d Argentonesse
Add to favoritesAn unusual gem blending the Middle Ages and the Renaissance The Château d’Argentonesse is a unique building that surprises with its architectural history: the upper section, in the Renaissance style, was built in the 19th century upon imposing 14th-century vaults, vestiges of an earlier fortified castle. Completely and lovingly restored by its owners, this 25-hectare estate offers a majestic setting overlooking the Dordogne Valley. Inside, the five guest rooms and suites boast an elegant and welcoming Baroque style, combining antique furniture, wood paneling, and all modern comforts in an authentic "castle life" atmosphere. Serenity and panoramic views of the Valley of the Five Castles The estate is a true haven of peace where time seems to stand still. Guests can relax by the 15-meter-long swimming pool or stroll through the parkland dotted with centuries-old trees. The large terrace is the ideal gathering place to enjoy a hearty breakfast while admiring the morning ballet of hot air balloons that regularly float above the property. Thanks to its strategic location between Beynac and Sarlat, the château is a perfect base for exploring the prehistoric sites of the Vézère Valley and the iconic medieval fortresses of the Périgord region.
Tip for an even more exceptional visit.
Keep an eye on the sky at breakfast! The château is situated on one of the region's favorite hot air balloon flight paths. For an unforgettable photo, get there early on the terrace: watching the balloons pass almost touching the château towers in the morning light is a truly magical sight. Bonus tip: Don't miss the Argentonesse-style omelet at breakfast or reserve a table d'hôtes (offered on certain evenings) to discover Christelle's local cuisine. If you're looking for more independence, the estate also offers a unique gîte, "La Tour Joséphine," located in an outbuilding of the park with a magnificent vaulted kitchen.
