About Chateau de Pompadour Et Ecuries de l Orangerie
Add to favoritesIt is in the heart of the Corrèze region that the imposing Château de Pompadour stands, completely rebuilt in the 15th century by Geoffroy Hélie de Pompadour. In 1745, Louis XV gifted the Pompadour estate to his favorite and mistress, Jeanne-Antoinette Lenormand d’Étiolles, who would become the renowned Marquise de Pompadour. Over the decades, the château suffered considerable damage. Only the granite south wing survived and was restored during the Consulate to house the directors and managers of the National Stud Farm. Pompadour is as famous for its château as it is for its National Stud Farm. Also known as the "City of Horses," the site is renowned worldwide for its equestrian events. With more than 160 days of events per year, it is a must-see destination in the world of horses. As part of the site's development, volunteers and staff work to preserve and improve the spaces in order to foster tourist, cultural, and economic activities. Today, the "Scènes de Manège" association offers a diverse range of activities, perfectly suited to its surroundings. Blending French history and equestrian heritage, visitors can discover Pompadour through guided tours, equestrian shows and cabarets, seasonal events, theatrical rides, and numerous other events scheduled throughout the year.
