This royal castle, transformed into a national palace, is famous for its medieval exterior that conceals richly decorated Renaissance interiors. It houses a collection of Gobelins tapestries unique in the world, as well as the famous tortoise shell that served as the cradle of the future king. The estate is surrounded by a magnificent park with views of the Pyrenees mountain range. The guided tour takes you through the state apartments decorated during the reigns of Louis-Philippe and Napoleon III, bearing witness to the enduring political importance of this place throughout the centuries.
