Chateau de Canon

The Château de Canon is an exceptional architectural and landscape ensemble, perfectly preserved since the 18th century. Created by the famous lawyer Jean-Baptiste Élie de Beaumont, the estate embodies the Enlightenment spirit, where artistic beauty meets agricultural productivity. The neoclassical castle is surrounded by a 15-hectare park, listed as a Historic Monument and awarded the "Remarkable Garden" label. Visitors can wander among garden follies (Chinese kiosk, Temple of Virtue), romantic waterfalls, and canals that mirror the estate's majesty. The world-renowned highlight of Canon is the Chartreuses: a unique series of ten walled gardens, originally designed for growing premium fruit, now transformed into an incredible floral walkway. However, Canon is also a working estate: with its educational farm, conservatory orchard, and production of AOP Pays d'Auge cider, perry, and apple juice, the site offers a fully immersive experience. It is a delightfully "extravagant" destination where the elegance of reception rooms meets the authenticity of a traditional Normandy farm.
