Musee National du Chateau de Pau

This is where Henry IV, the "Vert Galant" (Green Gallant), was born in 1553. This royal castle, transformed into a national palace, is famous for its medieval exterior that conceals richly decorated Renaissance interiors. It houses a collection of Gobelins tapestries unique in the world, as well as the famous tortoise shell that served as the cradle of the future king. The estate is surrounded by a magnificent park with views of the Pyrenees mountain range.
