Chateau de Tallard

Proudly overlooking the village of Tallard, this castle dating from the 14th to the 16th century is one of the most beautiful fortified sites in the Southern Alps. Once owned by the Knights of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, and later by the powerful Clermont-Tonnerre family, the building offers a fascinating contrast between medieval defensive architecture and refined Renaissance living. A highlight is the Trinity Chapel, a masterpiece of Flamboyant Gothic art, featuring an exceptionally fine carved portal.
